Gear Progression Notes

Gear progression by slot

The first entry in each category is the baseline equipment to get before upgrading. means the next progression tier; skipping tiers is not recommended and can make later content much harder.

Weapons

Tier Weapon Notes
1 Lv 55 or Lv 63 Quest Gear Lv 55 gear is very accessible, since everything except the Main Weapon requires only a single quest to obtain.

Lv 63 gear requires more progress in Papaya Island, but offers additional EXP and Zeni while progressing toward endgame content.

Lv 70 Legendary Weapons (Overworld) These are commonly found while approaching level 70.

They can also frequently appear on the Auction House.

Hellfire Weapons or Bacterian Weapons

Hellfire Weapons

  • Deal 6% additional damage to enemies affected by Hellfire.
  • The debuff is applied through Hellfire Earrings via auto attacks.
  • The debuff lasts only 1 second, meaning it is difficult to maintain without a Speed build or another player applying the effect.

These weapons are typically stronger in Speed builds or coordinated party play.

They may be difficult to obtain without a guild, though they can appear in the Auction House.

Bacterian Weapons

  • Have the highest base attack of any weapon.
  • No compatibility restrictions.
  • Work with Lv 70 Earrings or UDC Earrings.

However, they are essentially untradable except through the Capsule Shop, meaning you will most likely need to obtain them through BID3 dungeon runs.

Overall, they are a very flexible and reliable option for most builds.

→ (Optional) UD7 Main Weapon

Some UD7 weapons guarantee critical hits but deal 30% reduced damage.

These weapons require completing UD7, which is considered an endgame dungeon and should not be underestimated.

They can occasionally appear on the Auction House.

These weapons perform best for classes with many CritHit-based skills (abilities that gain bonus effects when they critically hit).

Armor

Tier Armor Notes
1 Lv 55 / Lv 63 Quest Gear
Dark Wave Set
Lv 70 Armor Pieces

Similar to weapon progression:

  • Lv 55 Quest Gear is easy to obtain.
  • Lv 63 Gear requires more effort but provides good EXP and Zeni during progression.

Dark Wave Set

A powerful farming set that restores 150 LP every time you are hit.

Can be obtained by:

  • Farming UD5 (slow method)
  • Gambling Tech Capsules at the Whitesmith in Korin Village

This method is heavily RNG-dependent and requires:

  • 8 UD / TMQ runs per gamble
  • UD6 and TMQ7 only require 2 runs because they reward non-broken Tech Capsules.

The set is tradeable but highly sought after.

If used mainly for overworld farming, a Physical set is recommended.

Light Waves

  • Lv 63 upgrade of Dark Wave
  • Obtained from CCBD
  • Strong upgrade but extremely tedious to farm.

Lv 70 Armor Pieces

These armor pieces:

  • Are relatively rare
  • Have higher stat caps
  • Do not provide set bonuses.

Because of this, they are generally considered weaker than the following set-based options despite their strong individual stats.

UD6 Set or TMQ7 Set

Both sets can be obtained through:

  • Farming the respective dungeon (recommended with a party)
  • Gambling Tech Capsules obtained from UD / TMQ runs.

Which set is best depends on your build.

UD6 Set

  • Grants Physical / Energy Attack
  • Grants Attack Speed
  • Favours Speed builds and Hybrid builds (e.g., Swordman).

Defense types:

  • Humans / Namekians: one strong defense and one weak defense
  • Majins: balanced defenses.

TMQ7 Set

  • Grants Critical Rate
  • Grants Skill Animation Speed

Ideal for Crit builds.

Defense types:

  • Humans / Namekians: balanced defenses
  • Majins: specialized defenses (one strong, one weak).
Lv 70 CC Set
Sky Dungeon Set
BID1 Hard Set

These sets require endgame content and may take significant time to obtain.

Even at this stage, UD6 and TMQ7 sets remain viable if their bonuses suit your build.

However, Lv 70 sets benefit from higher box rolls and sub stat caps.

CC Set

  • Balanced defenses
  • Provides Cooldown Reduction

A good option for Skill-based builds that want to focus other stats on Properties.

Obtaining tickets for higher floors may require patience or Tokens.

Sky Dungeon Set

  • Highest specialized defenses in the game
  • Adds +10% Physical or Energy Defense
  • Provides 7% Reflect

Extremely valuable for tanks.

Also useful for Melee DPS due to increased survivability against AoE attacks.

Requirements:

  • Strong team coordination
  • Materials are tradeable, but the armor itself is not.

BID1 Hard Set

The only race-specific gear set in this tier.

Set bonuses differ depending on race and type:

  • Human / Namekian / Majin
  • Physical / Energy

Human Sets:

  • LP Recovery + STR
  • EP Recovery + SOL

Alternative option for skill-based builds.

Namekian Sets:

  • LP Recovery + Aggro Up
  • EP Recovery + Healing Up

Best balanced defense option for tanks and healers.

Majin Sets:

  • Status Resist + STR
  • Status Resist + SOL

Particularly strong for Mighty Majin classes due to synergy with Spin builds.

These sets can apparently be traded.

Rings

Tier Rings Notes
1 Popo Rings
(Optional) Overworld Rings

Popo Rings

Obtained from Popo’s Gift Box. At Lv 70 the box rewards two rings with +20 CON each, providing a strong LP buffer while progressing toward better rings.

Overworld Rings

Random drops that may provide:

  • Cooldown Reduction
  • Hit Rate

However, these are generally weaker than Popo Rings because the extra LP from CON is usually more valuable than the small CDR or Hit bonuses.

→ (Optional but highly recommended) Lv 55 or lower CCBD Rings

Although CCBD can be slightly inconvenient to run, the ring set is extremely valuable.

Benefits include:

  • Up to 8 Properties
  • +3% Attack
  • +14 to a chosen stat

These are also the last rings that do not require crafting.

The currency needed for these rings comes from clearing floors 15–55 of CCBD.

Recommended stat choices:

  • CON – safest option
  • FOC – useful for classes lacking Hit Rate
  • STR – good for Spin / Ball builds
  • SOL – recommended for healers
  • DEX – good for Physical Crit builds

ENG is generally not recommended here.

Cell-X Physical / Energy Rings
Kraken Rings

Obtained from:

  • BID2 (Cell-X)
  • BID4 (Kraken)

Cell-X Rings

The Physical and Energy Ring + Signet sets grant:

  • Flat Physical / Energy Attack
  • Defense
  • Percentage Attack bonus

These are considered a glass cannon option. While they increase damage significantly, they are weaker defensively than the Property bonuses provided by CCBD rings or Kraken rings.

The %Attack bonus scales well with other attack sources such as:

  • Weapons
  • Buffs
  • Passive abilities.

Kraken Rings

Similar to CCBD rings but significantly stronger.

Benefits include:

  • 13 Properties
  • Additional useful stats

This makes them:

  • The safest choice for Melee DPS
  • The best ring option for Tanks

Stat selection generally follows the same logic used for CCBD Rings.

Note

CC Rings beyond Lv 55 are generally not recommended due to their heavy requirements.

Earrings

Tier Earrings Notes
1 Popo Earrings
(Optional) Shenron Earrings

Popo Earrings

Provide a mix of:

  • Cooldown Reduction
  • Properties

Both are excellent stats for earrings.

Shenron Earrings

If you have two spare Dragon Ball sets, you may obtain Lv 60 Legendary Shenron Earrings.

These allow you to roll for:

  • ~22 Cooldown Reduction
  • ~11 Properties

This gives more control over the stats compared to Popo Earrings, though the requirement of two Dragon Ball sets is relatively expensive.

UDC Earrings
Lv 70 Earrings
Hellfire Earrings

One of the most important gear decisions. Choose based on your build and what you can farm.

UDC Earrings

These provide unique effects depending on:

  • Your class
  • Your race
  • Racial transformation UDCs

However, they have lower stat caps due to balancing:

  • Rare (Red): up to 16 CDR / 8 Properties
  • Legendary (Purple): up to 20 CDR / 10 Properties

Because of this, they provide less survivability compared to other options.

Important:

  • Cannot be traded
  • Must be farmed personally.

Lv 70 Earrings

Dropped by Papaya Island World Bosses (party recommended).

Advantages:

  • Highest sub stat caps
  • Up to 26 Cooldown Reduction
  • Up to 13 Properties

These are particularly valuable for:

  • Tanks
  • Melee DPS
  • Builds needing additional CDR or defensive properties.

They are frequently sold in the Auction House.

However, in terms of raw damage potential, they are the weakest option among the three choices.

Hellfire Earrings

These apply the Hellfire debuff to enemies through auto attacks.

Important:

  • The earrings themselves do not increase your damage.
  • The damage bonus comes from Hellfire Weapons.

Using the earrings without the weapons provides little benefit besides normal Lv 70 stat caps.

Best used with:

  • Hellfire Weapons
  • Speed builds

Requires a guild to farm, but they can sometimes be found on the Auction House.

Necklace

Tier Necklace Notes
1 Popo Necklace
(Optional) Shenron Necklace

Popo Necklace

Provides a small amount of survivability and is obtained for free, making it a good starting option.

Shenron Necklace (Lv 60)

Often more useful than Shenron Earrings due to the wide range of valuable necklace stats, including:

  • Property Attack
  • Property Defense
  • Status Resistance
  • Success Rate
  • Status Duration Reduction

Although Lv 60 stat caps are slightly lower than Lv 70, they are still strong.

Examples:

  • Up to 8 Property Attack / Defense
  • Very strong rolls for status duration reduction (over 50% possible).
Lv 70 Necklace

Dropped from Papaya Island World Bosses.

Advantages:

  • Highest stat caps among all necklaces
  • Up to 10 Property Attack or Defense

Other necklace stats can also roll extremely strong values.

Players often farm multiple necklaces to obtain good rolls.

Alternative:

Crafted CCBD Necklaces exist but are relatively difficult to obtain.

Scouter

Tier Scouter Notes
1 Any Scouter
(Optional) Android Quest Scouter

Early on, Scouters are not a high priority because the chips placed inside them only provide relatively small stat increases.

Players can safely upgrade these whenever it becomes convenient or when stronger chips start becoming available.

Android Quest Scouter

If you need a better Scouter around Lv 38+ and cannot complete the Lv 68 questline for the Naisubi Scouter yet, a quest in West City rewards a solid early option.

Requirements include:

  • Defeating an Overworld Boss
  • Completing a Time Room challenge

These may require a party unless your character is already powerful.

Stats:

  • 1500 Power
Vegeta UDC Scouter
Naisubi Scouter
Budokai Scouter

Once you begin collecting better chips, upgrading your Scouter becomes more important.

Vegeta UDC Scouter

Dropped by Vegeta (UDC). It has lower power than other endgame scouters but is generally easier to obtain.

Estimated power:

  • ~2000 Power (needs confirmation)

Naisubi Scouter

Unlocked through the Papaya Island Lv 68 questline which leads to a fight with Naisubi.

Rewards:

  • A chip
  • A powerful scouter

Stats:

  • 2500 Power
  • 1 Wild Attack Property

This scouter remains a strong option even into the endgame.

Budokai Scouter

PvP-exclusive item.

Advantages:

  • 3000 Power (highest currently available)
  • Small additional bonus stats

The extremely high power value makes it the best scouter for chip capacity.

Can sometimes be found on the Auction House.

Chips

Unlike other gear categories, Scouter Chips do not have a strict progression path. Instead, players choose chips depending on their build and playstyle.

Token Shop Chips

The Token Shop provides a type of Scouter Chip “gacha” costing a few hundred Tokens.

Notable chips include:

  • Cooldown Reduction Chips
  • Property Chips

Costs:

  • 330 Power (CDR chips)
  • 499 Power (Property chips)

These are widely considered some of the most versatile chips available.

However, they are RNG-based, meaning obtaining specific chips may require multiple attempts.

Raditz Time Room Chips

Raditz's Time Room rewards:

  • 2% Attack Speed chips
  • 499 Power

These are solid choices for Speed builds.

However, an even more extreme option exists.

Cell Time Room Chip

Cell's Time Room provides a high-risk chip with the following stats:

  • +15% Attack Speed
  • +15% Movement Speed
  • -24% Max LP
  • -48% Max EP
  • 749 Power

Despite the heavy drawbacks, all effects can be useful.

Advantages:

  • Extremely strong for Speed builds
  • Movement speed helps avoid telegraphed AoEs
  • Enables Spin / Ball builds to perform better
  • Reduced LP/EP can help sustain transformations with drain (since drain scales with maximum LP/EP)

However, using this chip requires:

  • Careful gameplay
  • High defensive stats
  • Strong Property bonuses
  • Or additional LP buffs

Widely considered the most risky chip option in the game. Use only if you can compensate for the penalties.

Android Time Room Chips

Android Time Room allows players to obtain chips with:

  • 2% Critical Rate
  • 4% Critical Damage
  • 499 Power

Both Physical and Energy versions exist.

These chips are extremely valuable for builds that:

  • Need to reach the Crit Rate cap
  • Want additional Critical Damage

There are very few sources of these stats elsewhere.

Frieza Time Room Chips

Frieza Time Room focuses on defensive chip options.

Available chips include:

  • +3% Physical Defense
  • +3% Energy Defense
  • +4% Anti-Crit
  • +2% LP on Hit
  • 499 Power

These can outperform Property chips when:

  • You need a specific defensive type
  • You are stacking defensive stats

The LP on Hit stat is particularly valuable because it can help reach the 50% LP on Hit cap (especially with the Ultimate Majin buff).

However, in many situations Property chips still provide better overall value.

In cases where you already have extremely high defenses (for example Dark Warrior Great Namek builds), these chips may provide the best pure defensive gains.

Dogi

Unlike most equipment pieces, Dogi rarity does not affect the sub stats obtained through crafting or when using Dogi Balls. Because of this, players are generally free to use any Dogi they like for cosmetic purposes.

However, UDBO includes two special Back Dogis that provide powerful unique effects.

Dogi Effects Notes
Stinky Mushroom

Stat effects:

  • +15% Movement Speed
  • +15% Cooldown Reduction
  • Reduced Attack Speed Delay (attacks recover faster after the animation)
  • Defense reduced by 50%

Although the Attack Speed Delay reduction does not directly increase attack speed, it still helps slightly with reaching the practical attack speed cap.

This Dogi is considered:

  • One of the best options for Spin builds
  • Very strong for offensive builds
  • Particularly effective for Speed builds

However, the 50% defense penalty is extremely severe. Players using this Dogi should ideally compensate with strong Property defenses or other defensive sources.

Very Heavy Stone

Stat effects:

  • +50% Defense
  • Large penalties to:
    • Movement Speed
    • Attack Speed
    • Cooldown times

This Dogi is essentially the opposite of Stinky Mushroom.

It is mainly used by:

  • Tanks
  • Players who prioritize maximum survivability

It can also be helpful in situations where avoiding damage is impossible, such as:

  • Being stunned after a Spin
  • Being locked inside a skill animation
  • Large AoE attacks that cannot be outrun

How to Obtain

Both Dogis are obtained through the Secluded Farm questline at Lv 50.

Requirements:

  • Completion of the Great Saiyaman Dance questline
  • Progress through the Secluded Farm storyline

The questline may be easier to complete:

  • At higher levels
  • With a party

Important Notes

  • Do NOT discard these Dogis – they cannot be recovered.
  • These Dogis cannot be enhanced using Dogi Balls.
  • Their effects are already extremely strong, and allowing them to scale further would likely be overpowered.
